The Harwell Conservation Area covers about 19 hectares and was designated by Vale of White Horse District Council in 1970. Inside the boundary are 56 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 5 Grade II*, 50 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Matthew, Grade I.
