The Cirencester Town Centre Conservation Area covers about 39 hectares and was designated by Cotswold District Council in 2008. Inside the boundary are 193 listed buildings (2 Grade I, 14 Grade II*, 177 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St John Baptist and attached railings and gates, Grade I. 23 Tree Preservation Order records overlap the area; every other tree here still needs six weeks’ notice before work. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
