The Pleshey Conservation Area covers about 26 hectares and was designated by Chelmsford City Council in 1991. Inside the boundary are 28 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 1 Grade II*, 26 Grade II). The most significant is Pleshey Castle Bridge, Grade I.
