The Freckenham Conservation Area covers about 13 hectares and was designated by West Suffolk Council in 1993. Inside the boundary are 10 listed buildings (2 Grade II*, 8 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Andrew, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
