About the Old Town South Conservation Area
The Old Town South Conservation Area covers about 4.5 hectares and was designated by Southampton City Council in 1972. Inside the boundary are 21 listed buildings (5 Grade I, 1 Grade II*, 15 Grade II). The most significant is Canute's Palace, Grade I. 6 Tree Preservation Order records overlap the area; every other tree here still needs six weeks’ notice before work.
