About the Thornbury Conservation Area
The Thornbury Conservation Area covers about 58 hectares and was designated by South Gloucestershire Council in 1975. Inside the boundary are 88 listed buildings (4 Grade I, 4 Grade II*, 80 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Mary Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Grade I. 178 Tree Preservation Order records overlap the area; every other tree here still needs six weeks’ notice before work. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
