The Chewton Mendip Conservation Area covers about 31 hectares and was designated by Somerset Council in 1988. Inside the boundary are 16 listed buildings (2 Grade I, 14 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Mary Magdalene, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
