The Acton Burnell Conservation Area covers about 43 hectares and was designated by Shropshire Council in 1977. Inside the boundary are 17 listed buildings (2 Grade I, 1 Grade II*, 14 Grade II). The most significant is Acton Burnell Castle, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
