The Lord Street Conservation Area covers about 27 hectares and was designated by Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council in 1973. Inside the boundary are 63 listed buildings (2 Grade II*, 61 Grade II). The most significant is Former Preston Bank, Grade II*. 1 Tree Preservation Order record overlap the area; every other tree here still needs six weeks’ notice before work.
