About the Warkworth Conservation Area
The Warkworth Conservation Area covers about 30 hectares and was designated by Northumberland County Council in 1972. Inside the boundary are 73 listed buildings (3 Grade I, 2 Grade II*, 68 Grade II). The most significant is Castle Curtain Walls With Gateway, Towers and Attached Buildings, Grade I. 4 Tree Preservation Order records overlap the area; every other tree here still needs six weeks’ notice before work. Part of the area lies in flood zone 2, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
