About the West and East Ayton Conservation Area
The West and East Ayton Conservation Area covers about 30 hectares and was designated by North York Moors National Park in 1985. Inside the boundary are 18 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 1 Grade II*, 16 Grade II). The most significant is Ayton Castle, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
