The Folkestone Conservation Area covers about 83 hectares and was designated by Folkestone and Hythe Council in 1972. Inside the boundary are 95 listed buildings (5 Grade II*, 90 Grade II). The most significant is 18 and 20, Church Street, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
