The South Lowestoft Conservation Area covers about 82 hectares and was designated by East Suffolk Council in 1978. Inside the boundary are 23 listed buildings (2 Grade II*, 21 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Peter and St John, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
