About the Highgate Village Conservation Area

The Highgate Village Conservation Area covers about 80 hectares and was designated by London Borough of Camden in 1978. Inside the boundary are 180 listed buildings (2 Grade I, 19 Grade II*, 159 Grade II). The most significant is The Egyptian Avenue and Lebanon Circle (inner and Outer Circles),Highgate Western Cemetery, Grade I. 1 Article 4 direction over the area removes further householder rights, on top of the conservation area limits below.

What changes inside the conservation area

Conservation areas are “Article 2(3) land”. You keep most permitted development rights, but these are removed or tightened.
