The Christchurch Central Conservation Area covers about 63 hectares within Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s area. Inside the boundary are 105 listed buildings (6 Grade I, 8 Grade II*, 91 Grade II). The most significant is Christchurch Priory and Parish Church, Grade I. 2 Article 4 directions over the area remove further householder rights, on top of the conservation area limits below. Part of the area lies in flood zone 2, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
