About the Bath Conservation Area

The Bath Conservation Area covers about 1,477 hectares and was designated by Bath and North East Somerset Council in 1968. Inside the boundary are 2259 listed buildings (27 Grade I, 35 Grade II*, 438 Grade II). The most significant is 1 to 21, PARAGON, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 2, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.

What changes inside the conservation area

Conservation areas are “Article 2(3) land”. You keep most permitted development rights, but these are removed or tightened.
