The Kirkoswald Conservation Area covers about 37 hectares and was designated by Westmorland and Furness Council in 1999. Inside the boundary are 29 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 3 Grade II*, 25 Grade II). The most significant is The College, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
