The Burton Conservation Area covers about 4.8 hectares and was designated by Westmorland and Furness Council in 1969. Inside the boundary are 21 listed buildings (1 Grade II*, 20 Grade II). The most significant is Burton House, North Wing; Burton House, South Wing; Burton House and Rear Garden Wall Attached to South Wing and Forming Rear Wall of the White Cottage and Outlook, Grade II*.
