The Woodstock Conservation Area covers about 27 hectares and was designated by West Oxfordshire District Council in 1975. Inside the boundary are 165 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 7 Grade II*, 157 Grade II). The most significant is Woodstock Gate, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
