The Okehampton Conservation Area covers about 51 hectares and was designated by West Devon Borough Council in 1990. Inside the boundary are 23 listed buildings (3 Grade II*, 20 Grade II). The most significant is Chapel of St James, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
