The FARNHAM Conservation Area covers about 50 hectares and was designated by Waverley Borough Council in 1970. Inside the boundary are 246 listed buildings (4 Grade I, 37 Grade II*, 205 Grade II). The most significant is Farnham Castle (comprising Castle Buildings to the South Only), Grade I. 2 Article 4 directions over the area remove further householder rights, on top of the conservation area limits below. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
