The Charney Bassett Conservation Area covers about 10 hectares and was designated by Vale of White Horse District Council in 1978. Inside the boundary are 18 listed buildings (2 Grade I, 16 Grade II). The most significant is Charney Manor the Manor House, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
