The South Hale Conservation Area covers about 130 hectares and was designated by Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council in 1986. Inside the boundary are 18 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 1 Grade II*, 16 Grade II). The most significant is Royd House, Grade I.
