The Tonbridge Conservation Area covers about 68 hectares and was designated by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council in 1969. Inside the boundary are 88 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 4 Grade II*, 83 Grade II). The most significant is Tonbridge Castle, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 2, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
