The Cheddleton Conservation Area covers about 15 hectares and was designated by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council in 1970. Inside the boundary are 23 listed buildings (7 Grade II*, 16 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Edward the Confessor, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
