The Iford Conservation Area covers about 24 hectares and was designated by South Downs National Park in 1976. Inside the boundary are 14 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 1 Grade II*, 12 Grade II). The most significant is The Parish Church of St Nicholas, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 2, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
