The Swarkestone Conservation Area covers about 27 hectares and was designated by South Derbyshire District Council in 1977. Inside the boundary are 12 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 3 Grade II*, 8 Grade II). The most significant is The Grandstand, Cuttle and gate 200 metres north of Swarkestone Hall, Grade I.
