The Bruton Conservation Area covers about 42 hectares and was designated by Somerset Council in 1969. Inside the boundary are 128 listed buildings (3 Grade I, 3 Grade II*, 122 Grade II). The most significant is Bow Bridge, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
