The Whitchurch Conservation Area covers about 23 hectares and was designated by Shropshire Council in 1987. Inside the boundary are 92 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 6 Grade II*, 85 Grade II). The most significant is Church of Saint Alkmund, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 2, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
