The Ripley Conservation Area covers about 16 hectares and was designated by North Yorkshire Council in 1978. Inside the boundary are 46 listed buildings (2 Grade I, 4 Grade II*, 40 Grade II). The most significant is Gatehouse Approximately 80 Metres South of Ripley Castle, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
