About the Helmsley Conservation Area
The Helmsley Conservation Area covers about 40 hectares and was designated by North York Moors National Park in 1973. Inside the boundary are 58 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 3 Grade II*, 54 Grade II). The most significant is Helmsley Castle, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
