The Rockingham Conservation Area covers about 11 hectares and was designated by North Northamptonshire Council in 1970. Inside the boundary are 33 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 1 Grade II*, 31 Grade II). The most significant is Rockingham Castle, Grade I.
