The Goldhanger Conservation Area covers about 6.9 hectares and was designated by Maldon District Council in 1975. Inside the boundary are 15 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 14 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Peter, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
