The Mount Pleasant Conservation Area covers about 17 hectares and was designated by Liverpool City Council in 1976. Inside the boundary are 55 listed buildings (2 Grade I, 2 Grade II*, 51 Grade II). The most significant is Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, Grade I. 16 Article 4 directions over the area remove further householder rights, on top of the conservation area limits below.
