The Upper Batley Conservation Area covers about 41 hectares and was designated by Kirklees Council in 2006. Inside the boundary are 3 listed buildings (1 Grade II*, 2 Grade II). The most significant is Banqueting House in grounds of Batley Hall, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 2, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
