The Ross-on-Wye Conservation Area covers about 180 hectares and was designated by Herefordshire Council in 1970. Inside the boundary are 152 listed buildings (3 Grade I, 9 Grade II*, 140 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Mary the Virgin, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
