The Elham Conservation Area covers about 14 hectares and was designated by Folkestone and Hythe Council in 1970. Inside the boundary are 52 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 3 Grade II*, 48 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Mary the Virgin, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
