The Southernhay and The Friars Conservation Area covers about 28 hectares and was designated by Exeter City Council in 1993. Inside the boundary are 55 listed buildings (10 Grade II*, 45 Grade II). The most significant is 1-10 Southernhay West, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
