The Orford Conservation Area covers about 42 hectares and was designated by East Suffolk Council in 1970. Inside the boundary are 47 listed buildings (2 Grade I, 45 Grade II). The most significant is Orford Castle, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
