About the Howden Conservation Area
The Howden Conservation Area covers about 25 hectares and was designated by East Riding of Yorkshire Council in 1974. Inside the boundary are 59 listed buildings (1 Grade I, 3 Grade II*, 55 Grade II). The most significant is Minster Church of St Peter and St Paul and Chapter House, Grade I. 8 Tree Preservation Order records overlap the area; every other tree here still needs six weeks’ notice before work. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
