The Upwey Conservation Area covers about 77 hectares and was designated by Dorset Council in 1975. Inside the boundary are 80 listed buildings (4 Grade II*, 76 Grade II). The most significant is Church of St Laurence, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
