The Cerne Abbas Conservation Area covers about 28 hectares and was designated by Dorset Council in 1971. Inside the boundary are 74 listed buildings (9 Grade I, 4 Grade II*, 61 Grade II). The most significant is 7, Abbey Street, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
