The Terling Conservation Area covers about 32 hectares and was designated by Braintree District Council in 1969. Inside the boundary are 43 listed buildings (9 Grade II*, 34 Grade II). The most significant is Kendalls, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
