The Kelvedon Conservation Area covers about 39 hectares and was designated by Braintree District Council in 1969. Inside the boundary are 103 listed buildings (2 Grade I, 11 Grade II*, 90 Grade II). The most significant is 1-5, High Street, Grade I. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
