The Bildeston Conservation Area covers about 18 hectares and was designated by Babergh District Council in 1973. Inside the boundary are 71 listed buildings (5 Grade II*, 66 Grade II). The most significant is 15 (bec Cottage) and 17 Chapel Street, Grade II*. Part of the area lies in flood zone 3, so an extension may need a flood risk assessment.
